Pearl H. Rieger Scholarship Program
The Pearl H. Rieger Scholarship Program is just over a year old. Thanks to generous donations from RNBC friends, the program has provided comprehensive evaluations, recommendations and support for eleven children whose families could not otherwise afford services. In order to extend the benefits of the program to other children, we need your help. A donation to the Pearl H. Rieger Scholarship Program represents a commitment to our community and a gift filled with hope and compassion for a family and child in need. To donate to the Pearl H. Rieger Scholarship Program and help us improve the lives of even more children, please call Jessica Eustice, Director of Development & Communications, at 847.933.9339 or mail a check to RNBC, 4711 W. Golf Road, Suite 1100, Skokie, IL 60076, indicating “Scholarship Program” in the memo portion.
Our Research Program
We are currently involved in five ground-breaking research projects that will give us a clearer picture of how scientifically-informed understanding, assessment, and interventions can enhance children’s social-emotional learning skills and improve their ability to develop and maintain friendships.
A guiding principle of all our research projects is that the goal of enhancing children’s friendships will be served best if we understand how friendship works, if we have ways of assessing individual children’s social-emotional strengths and weaknesses, and if we know what kinds of social development interventions work for whom.
Creating new knowledge is difficult and expensive. Our current research projects are funded by foundations or generous individuals who have a passionate commitment to children’s healthy and successful development. If you would like to learn more about opportunities to help fund our ongoing research program, please go to the Donations Contact page.
Our Community Outreach Program
RNBC is committed to sharing knowledge and increasing awareness among parents, teachers, and professionals, about neurobehavioral problems and the assessment and treatment options that are available, through community outreach programs such as our lecture series in the public libraries and our programs in the schools. Our partnership with the Chicago Public Library (CPL) that began in 2001 has been a great way to provide accurate information and resources to people who would not otherwise have an opportunity to learn about neurobehavioral issues and how they impact children and students.
So far we have conducted programs in six different Chicago Public Library branches over the years. This year, the Library lecture series is called, Understanding Today’s Students. It is being held at the Lincoln Park Branch (for details, go to Our Events Calendar). Please help us continue to make this valuable resource available to those who need to know about the challenges of neurobehavioral issues and the ways to help children build on their strengths.
Parent Connections
Parent Connections is an opportunity for a group for parents to share their experiences, insight, and questions. It consistently draws over a dozen parents to each monthly meeting. As the program has continued to grow, we have found new ways to expand the focus of the meetings. Currently, meetings take place at the RNBC office, but in future, we hope to offer meetings at other convenient locations. We’ll keep you posted.
