Evaluation
RNBC is well-known for conducting extremely thorough, accurate, and sensitive assessments. Our clinical evaluations consist of various components, including:
- Spending time with the child
- Reviewing medical and school records
- Consulting other professionals who have treated the child
- Interviewing the parents
- Observing the child at school
- Detailed neurobehavioral assessment (when necessary)
Neuropsychological & Psychological Testing
We offer testing services for children as young as 3 years old through young adults. Tests are designed to assess specific problems such as symptoms related to ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional or behavioral problems, social difficulties, or developmental delays. The number of hours required for testing can vary according to the presenting problem and the age of the child. The tests help determine the child’s emotional status, how the child processes different kinds of information, academic functioning, social abilities and the nature of a child’s problem-solving skills.
Speech/Language Assessments
Our speech/language pathologist, Sara Panian, MA, CCC-SLP/L, investigates the child’s overall communication and language skills and pinpoints specific areas in which a child may be having difficulty. These areas may include the motor aspects of articulating speech, how the child understands what is being communicated, or how the child uses language to communicate.
Our Report to You
After gathering the necessary information, we analyze it to determine the child’s neurobehavioral strengths and weaknesses. Having arrived at a diagnosis, we create an individualized treatment plan consisting of the interventions that will build on the child’s strengths to help them overcome their social, emotional, behavioral and academic challenges.
The report is then shared with the parents and (when appropriate) the child’s school or doctor. A feedback for the client is done when age appropriate.
